2010 Clarifications/Corrections - Block 4 (download)

We have begun sign ups for our 2010 Saturday Sampler program which will begin on March 6th this year. If you have not participated in this program before, you might want to do so this year with this beautiful quilt! The Block of the Month program runs as follows for the months of March through November. Sign up at the store to participate. You will pay a start-up fee which includes the purchase of your first block. You attend one of the four 30-minute sessions to learn how to complete your block on March 6th. You may attend any of the four sessions at 8:00, 8:30, 9:00 or 9:30 a.m. In the first session you will receive your first block and Marian Mapes will talk you through the process of completing it. If you attend the 2nd session on April 3rd and bring your completed block from the month before, you will receive your next block for free. This continues for the rest of the program through November. If you cannot attend a meeting, or if you haven't completed your block from the month before, you can purchase it for $5.	2010 Saturday Sampler
Our quilt this year was designed by Donna Wester and it is really gorgeous. We have two fabric choices for our quilt, Hoffman Batiks in lovely warm tones of gold and green, or Moda Bar Harbor fabric in soft red, white and blue. We have samples of both fabrics in the store for you to see. As in the past two years, we have space for 80 customers in each category. You can sign up the the Batik, the Moda or both. The Batik cost is $30, the Moda cost is $25 and to sign up for both is $55. Call the store 949-282-0084 or e-mail us for more information or come in and see the fabric and the quilt design.

Block A
Directions: Sew each e and f triangle together. Press to f. Sew each e/f to d. Press to d. Square to 21/2” carefully centering seams. Make 4. Sew together as shown to make center pinwheel (Fig. 1). Square to 4-1/2”.

Block B

Block C
Cutting:
Cut

e 2”sq
a 3-3/4” x 2”
b **4-5/8
c **4-5/8
d *4-1/4

Directions:
Sew b and c right sides together. Press to c. Sew each b/c to d. Press to d. Square to 3-3/4” sq centering seams.

Sawtooth Blocks
Cut 21 3” squares instead of 42. (Once you sew and cut these you will have 42 in total). Cut 4 each of the other colors instead of 7. You’ll have more color squares than background squares, but pick and choose the ones you want to use to make 21 sets. Continue directions as stated.

Block 4
Cutting: Green Moda/Red Batik – Fabric size should be 7-1/2 x 10-1/4. See ATTS for an extra piece.
